Attention: Online traders and entrepreneurs

The Bureau of Internal Revenue will start going after those who fail to issue electronic invoices to customers this year.

Commissioner Kim Jacinto-Henares told reporters that online businesses, such as the following:

• sulit.com.ph
• e-bay Philippines
• alibaba.com
• ayosdito.ph 
• multiply.com 

These are just sample businesses that need to be registered with the BIR and should be paying the corresponding taxes.

The tax will cover even those entrepreneurs who use their personal Facebook accounts for business transactions.

"They are all bound by the law to comply with the invoicing requirement. Under the rules, online sellers shall be registered as such to the BIR, and that their electronic invoicing shall likewise be registered either directly to us or a third-party accredited by us", quips BIR Commissioner Kim Jacinto-Henares

The electronic invoicing could be availed of through a third party, but such third-party shall be accredited by the BIR. Meaning, private parties could participate and get the necessary accreditation from BIR.

Citing Section 237 of the National Internal Revenue Code, the BIR chief said the bureau need not issue a revenue regulation to implement the law requiring the issuance of receipts and sales invoices for online transactions as well as penalties for non-compliance.

VIRAL PHOTO: TEXT SCAMMER ASKING FOR A LOAD

 

I remember a family friend who got scammed by this modus operandi. She thought it was her daughter who works overseas who texted her and asked for a load. She told us that my kinakapatid(J) changed her international roaming number and they will put a little loading business. It turned out to be a text scammer. Tita R lost Php 5,000 worth of load. It was her hard earned money. I pity her. But what can I do?

So when I saw this viral photo, I really laughed when the text scammer got a dose of his/ her own medicine. Ha ha! It serves them right. I wish the police/ NBI caught them and put them in jail for fooling people and stealing other people's load.

If ever you receive a similar text message, give them a ride so they will stop fooling people.

MOTORCYCLE HELMET:Free ICC Validation and Sticker Marking until July 31,2012 Only

LTO will strictly enforce the Helmet Law starting January 2013 as mandated by the DOTC-DTI joint memorandum.

Republic Act 10054 or the Motorcycle Helmet Law of 2009 provides safety and prevent loss of lives of motorists.

The Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), the mother agency of LTO, together with DTI and the PIA is currently holding a six months information dissemination campaign to raise public awareness regarding the Helmet Law. 

RA 10054 was enacted in July 2009 but the motorists seem to have just ignored the law which provides safety and prevent loss of lives of motorists. 

Motorists are required to bring one valid identification card for helmet verification. He said this is a requirement before the International Clearance Certificate (ICC) mark or the Philippine Standard (PS) mark is pasted on the helmet to certify such helmet has met DTI standards.

Motorists must wear a standard protective helmet every time they go out in the streets including the back riders as provided by law.
