Pepsi HIV Hoax Goes Viral, Pepsi Denies Rumors

Pepsi HIV hoax are currently circulating through SMS, email and social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

The hoax message warns people from drinking Pepsi Cola and other Pepsi products as it could be contaminated with HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus).

One text message, which believed to have originated from India, is a very obvious hoax. It says:
 
Important message….for d next few days, do not drink any product from pepsi company like pepsi, tropicana juice, slice, 7up , coca cola, etc,,as a worker from the company has added his blood contaminated with HIV. watch NDtv …please 4ward this 2 every 1 u care about…..please spread!

What gave it away was that Coca-Cola is not a product of Pepsi but a rival brand.

Another hoax message from Facebook warns people not to drink Pepsi products as an HIV positive “factory worker” was said to put his blood in some of the bottles.

PepsiCo’s marketing vice-president Hemalatha Ragavan said the Pepsi HIV rumor is not true. She urged people not to believe such claims because Pepsi products were produced according to the “strictest safety standards.”

“This SMS started circulating in India in July and even there, no one believed it,” she said on Friday.

“It is scientifically proven that HIV cannot be transmitted via food or drinks anyway,” she added.

PepsiCo also announced on its website that there’s no truth to the story that Pepsi bottles and Tropicana packs were contaminated with HIV infected blood. They consider the viral message “an attempt to malign the company’s reputation.”

Vic Sotto's safe answers to Rumored Relationship with Pauleen Luna

Vic Sotto delivered “safe answers” when the entertainment press asked him questions about his rumored relationship with Eat Bulaga‘s youngest female co-host, Pauleen Luna.

The rumor about Vic Sotto and Pauleen Luna being an item has erupted via the column of entertainment writer Ricky Lo last Wednesday.

Lo said in his column that a “reliable source” has witnessed a “very subtle sweetness” between the veteran host/comedian and his Eat Bulaga! co-host.

During the press conference for the Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Enteng ng Ina Mo” by MZet, Octoarts, APT Entertainment and Star Cinema last December 8 at the Dolphy Theater, Vic Sotto, 57, was asked the inevitable question about his rumored relationship with Pauleen Luna, 23. 

Here’s a transcript of the interview by the entertainment press to Vic Sotto:

Q: Ano ang plano mo ngayong pasko?

Vic: “Ganoon pa rin. Kung ano ang plano ko last year, hindi naman nagbabago yun, e.”

Q: May nagpapainit ba ng Pasko mo ngayon?

Vic: “Palaging mainit din ang Pasko ko. Tuwing Pasko, natatanong din ako niyan!”

Q: Mas masaya ba ang Pasko mo ngayon?

Vic: “Palaging masaya ang Pasko.”

Q: May inspirasyon ka ba ngayon?

Vic: “Palagi akong may inspirasyon. Marami akong inspirasyon.”

Q: May lovelife ka ba ngayon?

Vic: “Palagi akong may lovelife.”

Q: Totoo bang nag-de-date raw kayo ng co-host mo sa Eat Bulaga! na si Pauleen Luna?

Vic: “Si Pauleen Luna has a very important cameo role in this movie-Enteng Ng Ina Mo. That’s it. That’s all there is to it. In other words, sa Tagalog, hanggang doon na lang ang masasabi ko dahil mas marami kayong nasasabi kesa sa akin.”

BEWARE OF MONSTER YAYA by Mr. Ryan Canlas

This morning, I had a conversation with my lady friend about her daughter who happens to be my godchild. Just recently, one of her two nannies reported that her 2 years old daughter was being physically abused by the other in a way as what we normally see on TV. Well, she cited some examples. Since the child was quite hard to feed, the nanny would force a spoon to her mouth to push the food in. She would then shake the spoon upward and sideways while inside the child’s mouth as a warning or a punishment perhaps.

Often, the poor kid would cry or throw-up and food would fall on the floor as a result of the pain. She would then force the child to eat whatever has been thrown-up. Afterwards, she would then drag her along through her hair to the restroom and clean her up by submerging her face to the toilet bowl first. At times when the kid would helplessly urinate on the floor, the said nanny would use the wet underwear to wipe the urine on the floor and forcefully rub the cloth to the poor baby’s face as a punishment. There was an instance as well where she intentionally let the kid burn her fingers with a flat iron.

On several times, the kid was seen with broken lips and some bruises but the nanny blames it to the child’s playfulness though the injuries were inflicted from strong blows and punches. To avoid being questioned, she would create stories to hide her wrongdoings or hurt the kid in ways where it will be hard to spot bruises or marks like pulling her hair or knocking and punching her head. The child was way too young to report to her parents and the nanny was said to have been teaching the kid what to say.

The other nanny who has been witnessing the said abuses remains silent but she could not bear it anymore. The kid recently sustained an open cut to her lips due to physical abuses so the other nanny decided to tell the parents what is happening. When confronted, the nanny admitted to her wrongdoings. The couple then immediately asked the abusive nanny to leave and reported the incident to the nearest police station. They could have had her arrested but because the parents were shocked too, their decisions and actions came fast as well. It was indeed a disturbing story and I could only imagine how traumatic it has been for the parents especially for my godchild.

My friend and her husband are now preparing to file a formal complaint with the PNP and since the culprit is at large, I am sending this message as a warning. The abusive nanny was said to have been befriending security guards same as the notorious Poison Ivy. In her tenure with my friend, she was reported to have been seen taking in a security guard inside the house and there they would do intimate acts right in the presence of the child. Thus, the parents now know why the child knows how to say “lips to lips” and “dede” at a very young age. This lady has the habit as well of taking co-nannies and other house-helpers inside while the couples are away. She would let them eat and hang-out which in itself is already an abuse.

Same as what I told my friend after our discussion, you have to check your kids always upon arriving home from work – from head to toes! Although I am sure that she does that every day, some things are quite hard to see so you need to also communicate always with your children with regards to how they are being treated when you are not around. If they are too young to report to you, equip your place with cheap yet effective surveillance camera if you can afford it especially if you are leaving your kids at home alone with nannies that you don’t know much about. People are very much different these days. It’s really hard to find someone whom you can trust and it’s even harder to keep them. You also have to make sure to screen the people you hire especially if they are to take care of your loved ones!

Poison Ivy

For those of you who don't know the housemaid tagged as "The Poison Ivy", Anamie Livrando escaped from Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Muntinlupa City by scaling the perimeter wall for the second time on November 19, 2011. 

 

The suspect, who posed as a housemaid, is responsible for poisoning and robbing 10 Chinese Filipino families. 

 

Her modus is to pose as a housemaid looking for a job. Once hired, she would feed household members with food laced with poisonous substances, then rob her employers of cash and valuables. 

 

At times, when the suspect cannot find a suitable employer, she will befriend security guards and beg them to recommend her to people looking for a housemaid.

1 PESO COMMEMORATIVE COINS WILL BE RELEASED SOON!

Ten million worth of the new one-peso coin will be issued this month to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of the Philippines national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal last June 19, 2011.

The Office of the President and the BSP Monetary Board approved the issuance of the commemorative coin as legal tender.   

The coin is of the same size and weight as the one-peso coin now in circulation which is 24 millimeters in diameter at 5.35 grams.  

On the face of the grayish, nickel-plated coin is the portrait of Jose Rizal, with the words 150 years, Republika ng Pilipinas, and the years 1861-2011 etched on it.

The reverse side carries the new BSP seal, 1-piso and 2011.
