Sulit.com.ph: Paying it Forward to Filipino People
I remember the times when my Boss would ask me to go to a popular broadsheet office to place an ads on that paper's Sunday Classified Ads section. You can imagine how high the ads space rates on that newspaper. But there is no way my Boss could sell his second hand cars or rent out his apartments if he'll not place an ads on that popular Sunday Classified Ads newspaper.
Good thing Sulit.com.ph was launched on September 11, 2006. This revolutionary portal, give birth to free online classified ads opportunity for every pinoy. They introduced Sulit.com.ph as an online marketplace for both buyers and sellers. Founded by then boyfriend and girlfriend now husband-and-wife tandem of RJ and Arianne David. Conceptualize inside RJ's bedroom. RJ became the web developer-slash-architect and Arianne became the web designer and test engineer of Sulit.com.ph
Why "Sulit"?
The name SULIT was chosen for 2 reasons:
1) Sulit means "worth it" in English;
2) It is an acronym for "SUper Low Internet Trading".
Sulit.com.ph is a short version of SULIT COMmunity PHilippines From Experimentation to Exploration
Sulit.com.ph was launched initially as an experimental website to know which niche or category is best to target through the amount of traffic each category will bring in to the site. Unexpectedly, by the end of November 2006, traffic to the website started to show growth; hence, the founders decided to push through with the classifieds ads format altogether.
This decision was found to be rational as the website continued to grow month by month. This then led the founders to register a sole-proprietorship entity under the name Netrepreneur Connections Web Services or NetCon in April 17, 2007. The name "Netrepreneur" became really ideal as one of the main purposes of the website is to connect Internet Entrepreneurs.
It was also during this time that the founders carried the Sulit motto of "Pay It Forward."
In a Facebook update, RJ shared that Sulit actually moved offices 5 times already. He started in his bedroom, then the terrace of his parent’s house, then the garage, a 30-man office in Unionbank Plaza, and finally their 100-man office in the 40th floor of the same building.
Sulit.com.ph is now the leading online classified ads and marketplace in the Philippines where people buy and sell a wide variety of goods, products, and services under different categories, including:
