NEW CARJACK AND HOLD UP MODUS OPERANDI REVEALED

NEW CARJACK AND HOLD UP MODUS OPERANDI REVEALED!

Candy Mejia-Subida's Account

A word of caution! An incident happened to me yesterday in between Megamall and St. Francis square while I was double parked infront of mercury.... I was sitting in the drivers side while royet quickly ran to mercury. while i was putting on lipstick and using the rear view mirror I saw a man crossing from megamal to st francis area. We actually made eye contact and he even put a smirk, from then on i had my eye on him (had a bad feeling about him from the very start) so i continued putting lipstick but my eyes were now at the passengers sidemirror...

True enough he circled the car and went back to the pedestrian and i saw him signal a group across where he eventually joined a two women with two "umbrellas" and one guy. my heart was beating so fast already (because this is what i read in the "Rachel Samson Torres incident" post). What was freaky was i could predict every move of theirs because i read that post. The two women and one guy positioned themselves apart from one another one at the back of my car, the other with still an open umbrella right smack infront of my passengers side and the other infront of the car but all on the sidewalk of st. francis side. I knew something was up because when they were crossing they were talking and when they crossed they split up and as if they didnt know each other. I moved my car a few meters and he said hindi ho hindi ho (as if saying im not telling you to move) in the meantime i got my fone put it in camera mode and true enough the guy goes up to my side and is pointing to my rear tire...

My goodness i couldnt believe that was the very exact thing that happened to mommy Rachel Samson Torres. So when he started babbling I put up my phone and took his photo, he immediately covered his face and said no no no and he walked away towards the st. francis guard. I wanted him to know that I knew something was up thats the reason i took his photo so he would go away from me.. (Note: He even tapped the rear of the car and spoke to the guard). At this point i had rang royet to come out. I saw the girls and guy cross back to megamall side so i opened my window and started calling the megamall guard and i kept saying guard yun naka orange and red and white stripes... They were walking ever so calmy but moved significantly faster coz they could hear me screaming by then.

Royet gets into the car and we drove to find the 2 girls and guy but they had entered megamall already. We turned the car back and looked for the gurd of st. francis who he spoke to and we asked what the guy had said... According to the guard the man asked if "we" could park in a slot. (Note: Imagine.. the guard actually thought all the while he was with us coz the man "tapped" the car before he approached the guard (Apparently a contingency move if they are almost busted). I feel so fortunate that mommy rachel made a very detailed report on the new modus operandi if not for her chances are the girl nearest to me would have opened the passenger door if i opened my lock to check on what the guy was fictitiously pointing at. (note in the picture that all this was happening with the megamall guard a few meters away behind him. in my case Awareness played a key role therefore it is my duty to make others aware through sharing my experience so we can minimize being victimized. P.S. feel free to re-post this and his picture... he probably thinks i got a clear shot of him and his cohorts, which is what i would want him to think. Friends, let us be extra vigilant!

Rachel Samson Torres:

Last Friday, July 7, at around 12:20-12:40pm, As I was picking up mu Grade 5 daughter in Poveda. I had a near hold-up / carnap / carjack experience.

I dropped my yaya on Guadix dr. cor. poveda st., then I parked my car on ADB Ave., very near Guadix dr., by the sidewalk of ADB and waited inside the car. While waiting, I was busy texting. After about 5-10 minutes, I heard some sound like someone was touching the left rear side of my car. I could see 3 women in the corner of my eye. I was about to unlock the door since I thought it was my daughter and yaya. Then a man knocked on my window saying, "May susi na naipit.", while pointing to the left rear side of my car, as he was holding a cellphone and a car key.

I couldn't understand clearly what he was saying. I was about to go down and look, then I suddenly got scared. It just dawned on me that this must be one of those 'Modus Operandi' that Ted Failon has been warning drivers. Then I realized I shouldn't have opened my window, so I closed it right away. The 3 ladies were under a white with red hearts umbrella, looking down near my left ear wheel. I couldn't see their faces because of the umbrella. I was thinking their susi might have been ran over my wheel, so I started my car and slightly moved it forward. I was waiting for them to pick up the susi, but the ladies just left and walked towards guadix dr., and the man went back to my window side and said the same thing again. I moved the car slightly forward again as I was ready to speed away, then he left going towards the ladies who walked. I watched them while they were walking. The man was talking to someone on his cellphone or maybe pretending. Then the man walked back towards ADB again. This time walking on the sidewalk of ADB. I was ready to leave if ever he comes back to me again, but he just continued walking still talking on his cellphone. Finally, my daughter and yaya arrived. I asked her if her keys are with her or maybe naipit by the door, but it was in her bag. So we left and moved towards the direction of Podium. The man was walking towards the same direction, still using his cellphone.

On hindsight, he was giving me the impression that he was a driver of one of the student's cars, that's why he was showing me his cellphone and a car key, and maybe I would feel comfortable and get out of my car and look at the rear left bottom part of my car, where the ladies were looking and to where he was pointing. Then that would be his chance to hold-up / carnap / carjack.

Unfortunately, there were no MMDA Traffic Aides / Police in the area at that time. Normally, there is one at the intersection of ADB, Guadix, Poveda and one in a motorcycle roving along ADB Ave.

I was lucky to have heard Ted Failon's warning that morning, over DZMM that the new modus operandi of these people now, is to target lady drivers, who are caught unaware, because they are busy texting, putting on make-up etc. It is no longer the 'Riding in Tandem' style. There is just one guy on a motorcycle who purposely bumps your car. You feel it's really an accident, so you go down and check, then another guy rides and speeds away with your car. So he said, if that happens, just ignore it and make sure you get out of the scene as soon as possible.

Another one is, they tie some tin cans at the rear of your car, so when you move, you will hear them sound. then you go down to check what is it and they get your car.

So please, dear parents, please lock your door always. Instruct your drivers and yayas to be extra, extra vigilant. Make your children aware of this. We are not safe in those streets. Best is to wait along Poveda Street. Who knows what could be after a holdup / carnap / carjack. God Forbid.

Sea Water Desalination Machine

The United Nations declared way back in 2010, that access to safe and clean drinking water is a human right which is essential to the full enjoyment of life and all other human rights.

In the age of Wifi connections, the Philippines, does not even target 100 percent access to safe drinking water. The commitment is merely to halve the number of those without access by 2015, aiming only for an access rate of 86.5%.
Have you ever wondered how the people in  Boracay island get their drinking water ?

The answer was by adopting the theory behind the Sea Water Desalination Machine.

Drinking seawater straight is a bad idea. You may think you have expelled the salt by urinating but you are actually losing more water than salt. Seawater contains roughly 130 grams of salt per gallon. With desalination, this technology can reduce salt levels to below 2 grams per gallon, which is the limit for safe human consumption.

It is a good thing that Solerex Water Technologies, a recognized leader in the Reverse Osmosis Technology in the Philippines where it has the largest base than any entity, comes up with an  Environment-friendly and Economic Approach to Desalination

It is a local firm that has been responsible for the design, full or partial fabrication, erection and/or assembly of the majority of the seawater reverse osmosis desalination plants currently installed in the country today.

With water fast becoming almost like liquid gold, especially in drought-prone regions like coastal areas with growing populations, an obvious solution is to take the salt out of seawater. After all, desalination technology has been around for thousands of years already.

Tantalizing as desalinated water sounds, the energy costs in producing fresh drinking water out of seawater have made it rather unpalatable—until now.

"Until recently, seawater desalination was a very expensive water source solution," said Jose Antonio Soler, president of Solerex Water Tecnologies, Inc.

Currently, between 10 to 13 billion gallons of water are desalinated worldwide per day. That's only about 0.2 percent of global water consumption, but the number is increasing.

Aristotle's efforts

Though Greek philosopher Aristotle envisioned the idea of removing salt from seawater through the use of “filters” arranged consecutively, he was not the first one to do it. The first duly recorded desalination practice was done by collecting freshwater steam out of boiling seawater. Sailors back in around 200 A.D. practiced desalination through the use of simple boilers in their ships. It was that simple.

However, in today’s environment, desalination on a large scale has become unbelievably expensive because of energy requirements. This meant that only countries rich in oil but lack enough water supply are those that can afford “thermal desalination.”

But advancements in technology saw researchers working on filters to take out the salt from seawater, just like how Aristotle saw it. The technology, which employs the use of “membranes,” now called “reverse osmosis,” needs a smaller amount of energy and costs around half the price of current saltwater distillation techniques used today.

Energy is the key

But even with membranes, large amounts of energy are needed to generate the high pressure that forces the water through the filter. In the 80's and 90's, the technology required about 14 kilowatt-hours of energy to produce 1,000 liters per cubic meter of desalinated seawater. However strides in energy recovery have decreased the energy requirement from 4.8-5.5 kilowatt-hours to 2.5-2.75 kilowatt-hours to produce 1,000 liters of desalinated seawater.

An island resort development, Balesin in Quezon province is currently enjoying the savings from installing the new generation Solerex Desalination Units introduced by Solerex Water Technologies whose water brand, Crystal Clear, is the leader in the home and office water delivery market. “All our Desalination Units now are equipped with PX Pressure Exchanger, an energy recovery device that basically recycles pressurized water that does not pass through the RO filters back into the high pressure loops at a 98% efficiency, reducing the amount of energy required by 60 percent,” shares Soler.

Hotels, resorts and communities that rely on producing their own water will benefit from the maximum savings and reliability as the energy recovery unit is built to last a lifetime – of no less than 25 years. “As a result the PX technology offers the best economic solution to all stakeholders,” Soler adds.

RAYCOP: The World's only UV C anti allergy vacuum cleaner

RAYCOP: The World's only UV C anti allergy vacuum cleaner. Yes, fellow with sensitive skin, folks it is now possible to have a Cleaner air through Raycop anti-allergy cleaners.

Soon you'll be saying: Goodbye asthma and dust mite allergies!

Unknown to all of you, I have a very sensitive skin. So, when I received an invitation to attend the launching of a revolutionary vacuum cleaner, I got really interested.

As I listened intently to the speakers, I realized that not only will this product solve my long time skin itch problem but will also help other people as well. Especially those parents with small children.

I learned that RAYCOP UV-C Vacuum Cleaner gets rid of dust mites and bacteria in your beds, cushions, sofas, and linens!

FAST FACTS:
• Every night you share your bed with 1.5 to 2 million dust mites.
• Their waste contains a powerful allergen that can cause itchy skin, burning eyes, coughing and sneezing.
• If you suffer from asthma or other respiratory problems these symptoms can be even worse.
• Raycop has been shown to deactivate the H1N1 Influenza A virus!

Raycop uses a unique three-stage allergy care system and a two-stage filtration process to capture and retain mites, dust, allergens, bacteria and larger pollutants to release only clean and healthy air. Raycop carries out all of these steps automatically as it sweeps across a surface.

Vibrating Pad

First, Raycop employs a patented vibrating pad to shake microscopic particles and dust mites free from mattresses, pillows and linens. The pad vibrates 3,600 times per minute extracting even the most resilient mites embedded in fabrics.

UV-C Sterilization

Next, using a UV-C sterilization lamp, bacteria and other microorganisms are killed to guarantee bedding and other surfaces germ free. Based on technology from Philips and Sankyo, this 8-Watt lamp uses a highly effective 253.7 nanometer wavelength and does not generate any ozone.

Vacuum Pollutants

In the final stage of cleaning, Raycop employs its powerful suction to capture the now dead dust mites and bacteria trapping them using a special microfiltration system. Its excellent motor power also effectively removes dust, allergens and dead skin cells.

Two-stage Filtration

A cartridge filter automatically captures larger particles and retains them so they cannot reenter the room. For small particles like microscopic dust, bacteria and dust mites, Raycop uses a HEPA microfiltration system to capture and keep hold of them too. This means the air expelled from Raycop is actually cleaner than the air you breathe!

Raycop is the first UV-C anti-allergy vacuum cleaner that kills 99% of bacteria and eliminates almost 94% of dust mites. It is specially designed to clean beds, linens and other fabrics, helping to create a healthier home. Raycop cleans deep into household fabrics and can be used to clean mattresses, sofas, chairs, futons, crib pads, bedding, pillows and curtains.

Soon, the traditional practice of Filipino families, particularly with family members who are susceptible to air-borne allergens, to take out the bedding or fabrics and place them under direct sunlight to remove allergens, bacteria and dust mites will be a thing of the past, now that the Raycop UVC Anti-Allergy Cleaner is available in the Philippines.

Studies by the Tokyo Allergy Research Center, revealed that direct exposure to sunlight even for up to 6 hours only manages to remove dust mite population by only 3.8%. While a Raycop Vacuum cleaner, kills 99% of E.Coli, Staphylococcus and Candida bacteria, and kills almost 94% of dust mites. Plus it has a replaceable Micro Allergy Filtration filter that filters more than 99.97% of dust remnants and keeps cleaning with utmost efficiency.

The Raycop UVC Anti-Allergy cleaner is the first anti-allergy vacuum cleaner with the Seal of Approval of the prestigious British Allergy Foundation, the Trophée de la Maison from the French Consumers’ Union and the LOHAS Seal of Approval from the Korea Standards Association. Sold in more than 30 countries around the world including the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Japan and South Korea, Raycop UVC Anti-Allergy cleaner is manufactured by the Health and Home Appliances Division of Bukang Sems Co., Ltd., the global and award-winning Incheon, Korea-based company whose aim is to help people live healthier and create a better home environment.

Journalist's Creed

Journalist's Creed

By: Walter William

I believe in the profession of Journalism.

I believe that the public journal is a public trust; that all connected with it are, to the full measure of responsibility, trustees for the public; that acceptance of lesser service than the public service is a betrayal of this trust.

I believe that clear thinking, clear statement, accuracy and fairness are fundamental to good journalism.

I believe that a journalist should write only what he holds in his heart to be true. I believe that suppression of the news, for any consideration other than the welfare of society, is indefensible.

I believe that no one should write as a journalist what he would not say as a gentleman; that bribery by one's own pocket book is as much to be avoided as bribery by the pocketbook of another; that individual responsibility may not be escaped by pleading another's instructions or another's dividends.

I believe that advertising, news and editorial columns should alike serve the best interests of readers; that a single standard of helpful truth and cleanness should prevail for all; that supreme test of good journalism is the measure of its public service.

I believe that the journalism which succeeds the best-and best deserves success-fears God and honors man; is stoutly independent; unmoved by pride of opinion or greed of power; constructive, tolerant but never careless, self-controlled, patient, always respectful of its readers but always unafraid, is quickly indignant at injustice; is unswayed by the appeal of the privilege or the clamor of the mob; seeks to give every man a chance, and as far as law, an honest wage and recognition of human brotherhood can make it so, an equal chance; is profoundly patriotic while sincerely promoting international good will and cementing world-comradeship, is a journalism of humanity, of and for today's world.

Written by Walter Williams (1864-1935), founder of the world's first school of journalism at the University of Missouri. He had contributed toward the promotion of professional journalism than any other person of his time.

I repost this Journalist's creed of Ethics by Walter William as a guide to every blogger, aspiring and would be bloggers. In today's modern era, everyone can post or blog whatever thoughts they have or whatever they wanted to say or do, thus they can now be considered as a social media bloggers who writes and gets news and messages across to readers.

Yes, it crossed my mind to make a a blogger's creed but I am not an authority in the matter so I will just let the blogger authorities to compose a blogger's creed for all of us. Readers are KING, we don't owe anything to anyone but our readers.

SANSO: Breton Houses

SANSO: Breton Houses
SANSO: Breton Houses, travelonshoestring, SANSO: Breton Houses Blogger
One of my favorite artist of all times, Sanso creates and presents "Breton Houses" from his imagination and memory. The landscapes view of the " Breton Houses" with a moon is Sanso's distinct signature in almost all of his paintings.

A renowned painter, Juvenal Sanso is one of the best-known members of the Philippine Modernist movement. Having graduated from the College of Fine Arts of the University of the Philippines, he is contemporaries with National Artists Victorio Edades, Vicente Manansala, Jose Joya, Federico Aguilar Alcuaz, and Napoleon Abueva (his batchmate in UP). His teachers were National Artists Fernando Amorsolo and Guillermo Tolentino.
SANSO: Breton Houses
"Breton Houses" was unveiled last July 27, 2012 and will run until the 3rd of August 2012, at the Archaeology Wing, R2 level of the Power Plant Mall.
SANSO: Breton Houses
This is the second time that I got invited in Sanso's art exhibit this year. And I sincerely thank my friend Ruby for this wonderful opportunity.
SANSO: Breton Houses
I love the colors used by Sanso on his art works. His paintings was almost sold out when I attended the artist's reception last July 31, 2012, Tuesday, at the Archaeology Wing, 2nd Floor of the Power Plant Mall.

Breton Houses metaphors for the peace and tranquility he experienced during his stay on the northern coast of France.

The landscapes he paints today are part of his search for the idyllic, a soothing balm for the restless and tired spirit not only of artists but of the human psyche.

In "Breton Houses", Sanso paints the essence of calmness, painting what every man's dream of the perfect place should be.

Sanso re-explores the meaning of warmth and comfort that those twenty-four summers have meant for him, creating works based more on those feelings than any actual location. Thus his new works conform to these emotions – of the idyllic place in one’s mind where one goes to relax – rather than a mere photocopy of an existing landscape.
In this way, Sanso remains true to his expressionist ideals—relying on feeling and emotion to guide his steady, gifted hand.
The landscapes on display showed just how far the artist has come in his practice. While elements of his earlier works are certainly there – Breton architecture, the affinity towards the coast, the famous Sanso moon – the calm his newer paintings in this series invokes is reminiscent of his experiments in color that stems from the Moderno series. This makes the new entries of the Breton Houses series more nuanced and complex than Sanso’s earlier works. The search for the idyllic is ever present, but Sanso has injected his experiences since into this series. Paradoxically, the series that initiated his rebirth as an artist was itself reawakened.
A foremost master, Sanso has had a long and stellar career capped by a number of awards and recognition including a King’s Cross of Isabella knighthood from the King of Spain, membership into the Order of Chevalier from the French Government, and a Presidential Medal of Merit awardee from the Republic of the Philippines. His works are represented in the collections of some 40 museums in the world including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the San Francisco Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Cleveland Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Institute, the Museum d’ Arte Moderne in Paris, the Rosenwald National Gallery of Washington, and the cultural Center of the Philippines. His collectors include the Rothschild Family, Nelson Rockefeller, Vincent Price, Elsa Schiaparelli, Jean Cocteau and many prominent, American, European and prominent Filipino families.
